Awagami International Exhibition 2025 : deux œuvres exposées sur papier washi au Japon

Je suis très heureux de partager une belle actualité : une de mes gravures ainsi qu’un tirage photographique sur papier washi ont été exposés au Japon dans le cadre de l’Awagami International Mini Print Exhibition 2025, organisée par The Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Foundation à Tokushima.

Cette édition a rassemblé une participation internationale remarquable : 1067 artistes issus de 58 pays et 1242 visiteurs accueillis pendant l’événement.

L’exposition s’est tenue au Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Foundation ainsi qu’au Ninety Art Space, deux lieux qui mettent en valeur la tradition et la vitalité du washi japonais, notamment celui produit par Awagami, reconnu pour sa qualité.

“Bird under the rain” conservé dans les archives du musée

Parmi ces œuvres exposées, mon tirage intitulé Bird under the rain a reçu une distinction particulière : il a été retenu pour intégrer les archives du musée du Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Foundation (Tokushima). Merci à Monsieur Fujimori pour son courrier et cette sélection.

C’est une grande joie et un véritable honneur de savoir qu’une œuvre imprimée sur washi — support qui me passionne autant pour ses qualités esthétiques que pour sa dimension patrimoniale — pourra faire partie de la mémoire de ce lieu dédié à l’art et au papier japonais fait main.

I’m very happy to share some wonderful news: one of my engravings, as well as a photographic print on washi paper, were exhibited in Japan as part of the Awagami International Mini Print Exhibition 2025, organized by The Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Foundation in Tokushima.

This year’s edition brought together an outstanding international participation: 1,067 artists from 58 countries, and 1,242 visitors welcomed throughout the event.

The exhibition took place at The Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Foundation, as well as at Ninety Art Space — two venues that highlight the tradition and vitality of Japanese washi, particularly the paper produced by Awagami, renowned for its exceptional quality.

Among the exhibited works, my print titled Bird under the rain received a special recognition: it was selected to be included in the museum archives of The Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Foundation (Tokushima).My sincere thanks to Mr. Fujimori for his letter and for this selection.

It is a great joy and a true honor to know that a work printed on washi — a medium that fascinates me as much for its aesthetic qualities as for its cultural and heritage value — will become part of the memory of this place dedicated to art and traditional Japanese handmade paper.
